Coconut Macaroon

 

If you are more of a coconut fan, then this treat of the same size is for you. Coconut macaroons are common macaroons that are popular in Brazil and in many other countries. Sometimes nuts are added and they are often covered or dipped in different types of chocolate. Try it out!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients3 cups sweetened, shredded coconut4 large egg whites1/2 cup sugar1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract (see Additional Notes)1/4 teaspoon salt

 

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Whisk the egg whites, sugar, vanilla, and salt until frothy.

3. Combine the coconut and egg white mixture and stir until even consistency.

4. With wet hands, shape the coconut mixture into small balls of 1 1/2-inches in diameter. Put them about an inch apart on the baking sheet.

5. Bake the macaroons for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

6. Let macaroons cool for 5 minutes.
